Teen and Young Adult Counseling
The Cultivating Place recognizes how difficult this phase is for teens and parents and are here to help. The mission is to work individually with your teen providing them a safe space to work through challenges. Parents often feel overwhelmed about how to help their child while the teen feels alone. During the teen to adolescent phase, there are many natural biological changes taking place. We can help kids and their parents navigate: family difficulties, anxiety, depression, peer pressure at school, eating disorders, cutting behaviors, drug or alcohol use, school issues, abuse, mental illness, sexual activity, or other stressful situations.
Counseling can help rebuild trust in families, teach effective communication and help to transition to healthier parent/child relationships. With the help of proven strategies and interventions, adolescents can learn how to deal with emotions more effectively, identify unhelpful thinking patterns, choose new ways of thinking that encourage self-respect and positive choices, and learn to eliminate self-destructive or inappropriate behaviors.

Individual Adult Counseling
Many individuals seek the support of therapy at some point in their lives. The assistance of a skilled and caring counselor can have many benefits. While these benefits vary from person to person, just beginning the process of therapy can help ease some of the isolation we all can feel when confronted with difficulties in our lives. Whether you are seeking assistance for anxiety, depression or a history of trauma, grief, women's issues, need help coping with the stress and hardship of everyday life, or wish to become more accepting of yourself and others, I am dedicated to help.

Couples/Relationship Counseling
Counseling is beneficial for all stages of being a couple, from dating to second marriages. It focuses on connections and growing communication in the relationship. Perhaps you have been in this relationship for years and found something is missing. You love your partner and want to work on getting that connection back. Some of the challenges relationships face are: communication issues, work-life balance, enhancing intimacy, drifting apart, blended families, and high conflict. I would love to help you cultivate your connection and resolve conflict in a healthy way.
I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 Gottman Method Couples Therapy. The Gottman Method is an approach to couples therapy that includes a thorough assessment of the couple relationship and integrates research-based interventions based on the Sound Relationship House Theory. Every couple has relationship strengths and weakness. In counseling we will magnify those strengths and begin working on the areas needing improvement. This theory truly helps couples build basic relationship and conflict management skills as well as helping create shared meaning.
